What is Pay It Forward Therapy?
It is simply clients/patients who wish to pay something towards the cost of another person also receiving therapy. You can pay for a whole session or quarter size parts. One quarter = £5. The client/patient can choose the therapist they want to work with just the same as you have or can, depending on whether you have engaged with us before.
I would like to make this system a social enterprise where there are no shareholders and the business model and supporting documentation is open source and available to anyone who would want to create the same or improve on it, subject to a vote across the board of stakeholders/subscribers/members.
Why Pay It Forward Therapy?
Because too many people who need help with balancing their mind and emotions aren’t getting it quick enough. Too many people are suffering and they could be helped, if they just had a qualified and experienced professional to talk to.
Where does the money go?
Good question. At the moment, all the money goes to the therapist providing the therapy. All the therapists offer free therapy hours and all provide special services rates for the Pay It Forward donations. This gives them a little more time to help clients who might also get free time, but need extra time, which the Pay It Forward donations contribute towards.
When the time or money involved to manage the Pay It Forward service this way becomes unworkable I will change it and inform everyone with transparent accounts or it will go to a vote.
This is an idea that I would like to move forward for the betterment of everyone who needs therapy and can’t get access. Interestingly, science shows that if you do a kind deed for someone, you will also feel the emotional joy that the person who receives it does. It turns out that even people who just witness a kind experience a surge in beneficial hormones and the parts of the brain related to experiencing the pleasure of kindness light up.
